
The led neon flex was manufactured by the machine, such as the SMT production and silicone extrusion, when the customer cut it and re-connect in the project site, the incorrect operation will cause the product damaged, I will bring a series of article to analyze the problem and find the essential reason, the problem was the product sent from overseas customer, and all the picture and description from the 8D report(Product Problem Analyzing Report), let’s contiune.
Date:4th-Jan-2024, Customer location:Asia-Singapore
Problem Description:
1)The customer complain the side bending 2700K 10X10mm IP67 led neonflex(bottom entry), shipping date:11th-Feb-2023 have the problem after installation; Side bending bottom entry DC24V led neonflex(300K/6W) have the problem after installation 2 years later;
2)The returned 2pcs 1010mm side bending, 5M/reel, total in 10M, 6pcs of 1220mm 5M/pcs, total in 30M, 2pcs of 0.41M/reel 1220mm led neonflex, total in 0.82M;
3)Please analyze the reason for causing the problem and provide the alternative improving solution.
Temporary Solution:
When the customer installed the led neonflex, should avoid to punctured the strip to cuase the water intaking and short circuit to make the led strip burning out.
When useing the glue to fix the solder free nedcap, ifneed to detach the led strip, please clean the outside glue firstly, and then detach the led strip, or the solder-free endcap will broken.
Key Reason analysis:
1)The first returned 10*10mm silicone led neonflex, when using the DC24V led power supply to emit it, the led neonflex could be emitted normally, no problem happened, picture as bellowed:

2)The second returned 10*10mm silicone led neonflex, when using the DC24V led power supply, the both end is not work, main reason is the led strip is water intaking and burning out by short-circuit, one end was the wiring endcap cracked cause the water intaking, and other end is the water intaking from the internal cable, picture as bellowed:




The third returned 12*20mm silicone led neoflex. when using the DC24V power to test it, can work normally, the solder-free cable end was cracked by the extertal power on it, and the solder-free endcap have the mark of using the milky glue to fix it, the main reason is to pull the cable hardly causing the cable end broken, picture as bellowed:

The fourth turned silicone led neonflex, tested by DC24V led power supply, the led strip can work well and do not have endcap at the other end, picture as bellowed:

The 5th 12*20mm silicone led neonflex, worked well by the DC24V led power supply, the solder-free endcap was broken completely, picture as bellowed:

The 6th returned silicone led neonfex 12*20mm, the led strip work well by DC24V led power supply, the cable was out from the endcap by pull the cable hardly, and the cable outside have the milky glue to fix the solder-free endcap, picture as bellowed:

The 7th returned silicone 12*20mm led neonflex work well by DC24 led power supply testing and the surface is no any damage, picture as bellowed:

The 8th returned silicone 12*20mm led neonflex, there have a long length not working by DC24V led power supply testing, the PCB at the bottom of the strip was burning out in black color, and the led strip bottom has punctured, the water intakes from the punctured part and cause the PCB short-circuit, means the PCB was completely burning out,picture as bellowed:



The 9th returned silicone 12*20mm led neonflex was work well by DC24V led power supply testing, this led strip is 0.41M/pcs, and it lose a solder-free endcap from its surface, and its side have the impressing mark, picture as bellowed:

The 10th silicone 12*20mm led neonflex was work well by DC24V led power supply testing, its length is 0.41M/pcs,and the wring end have another extra solder-free endcap, the side have the impressing mark, picture as bellowed:



The Essential Reason about the problem as bellowed from out engineering department:
A)The 1010 silicone ledneonflex-bottom entry, 1pcs was can work well, false judgement.
B)The 1010mm silicone led neonflex bottom entry, 1pcs was damaged by water intake, it’s main caused by pull the cable and endcap to the outside in the installation, the cable and endcap have the gap, water intakes from its gap; and the cable at the other end was not enclosed well. The water intake from the inner cable caused the short-circuit and burning out the strip.
C)The 1220mm silicone led neonflex bottom entry, 1pcs have the water intake, it’s main reason is the strip bottom punctured by the sharp object in the installation, after long time working, the water intake from the punctured part, cause the strip short-circuit burning out the strip.
D)The other 7pcs 12*20mm silicone led neonflex bottom entry solder-free endcap can work well, the solder-free endcap was used the milky glue to fix; It maybe caused by the hardly pulling the strip when detaching the strip, and the endcap gluing is too tightly, so the endcap and cable was completely broken.
Permanent solution
1)The solder-free and silicone endcap bottom entry, need to avoid to crack the endcap or open the endcap hardly, causing the water intake.
2)And to avoid the sharp object to puncture the strip causing the water intake, burning out the strip.
3)When fix the led neonflex fixed by glue, need to clean the outside fixed glue firstly, and detach the strip, or the solder-free endcap will be easy to be broken.
